INSTALLATION OF DECO ARK®
LUXURY VINYL PLANK

  • PREPARATION OF SUB-FLOORS
    • The sub-floor surface must be smooth, dry, clean and solid. Any adhesive residue must be removed to ensure proper installation.
    • The sub-floor should be flat within tolerance of 1/8 (3mm) over a span of 4 feet. Any unevenness over 1/8 (3mm) must be sanded or filled with a floor leveller. Voids or humps in the sub-floor will prevent vinyl from locking properly.
    • Deco Ark vinyl is waterproof but they are not to be used as a moisture barrier your sub-floor should be complete dry prior to installation of the vinyl floor (<2.5% moisture degree).
    • Place vinyl horizontally in the room where it will be installed. The room should be remain between 20 and 25 degree Celsius 48 hours before installation, and during the installation period. Do not remove the plank from the box during acclimatization period.
  • INSTALLATION OF DECO ARK®
    • Clean away any dirt and dust on the screed.
    • Installation should begin with the corner and proceed from the wall with tongue facing away from the wall. Allow a minimum gap 1/8” (3-4mm) for product expansion. Transition moldings or baseboards will cover the gap.
    • When laying the first row in a straight line interlock the short ends by inserting the tongue into the grooves at an angle of about 15 to 20 degrees. Install the sequential plank of the short end (5.75”) and be sure to line up evenly. Place the first row along the chosen wall respecting the minimum gap by using spacers.
    • Keep the seams tight between planks. You will feel and hear the click when locking the planks together to create a tight seam. There should be no visible gap between planks. If seams do no appear tight, pull plank immediately and try again.
    • When install Deco Ark vinyl, it is strongly suggest to stagger the rows so the short edge seams are not in a straight uniform.
    • To start the second row, measure and mark the plank, then using straight edge and utility knife score the plank and snap it. Interlock the first plank of the second row again at 15-20 degree angle. For the next planks, interlock the short side first, leaving it slightly away from the long side and slide it into the long side in the same manner. Start the third row with the last plank remaining from the previous planks.
    • Fitting around irregular objects is very easy with simple make a pattern out of heavy paper to fit around pipes or irregular objects. Place the pattern on the plank and trace. Cut along the trace line using a utility knife or heavy duty scissors and lay plank. Be sure to leave a minimum of 1/8 mm expansion space around all fixed objects such as floor vents and door frames.
    • Deco Ark product can be installed from both sides of the plank. This allows you to start in one room and continue through a doorway into another room with the same pattern.
  • MAINTENANCE GUIDE
    • First sweep and vacuum the floor surface to ensure removal of all loose dust, dirt and debris. Using a mop with warm and clean water scrub the floor surface and rinse several times as needed allow.
    • Avoid expose to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. During peak sunlight hour use draper or blinds to minimize direct sunlight. To avoid uneven appearance, relocate area rugs from time to time. Excessive temperatures may damage for resilient floor. Ventilation of intermittent air condition in vacant homes is recommended. Temperatures over 95F degrees combined with strong direct sunlight will damage Deco Ark vinyl.
    • Regular household dirt can be cleaned with hand wiping may be required to remove tough spots and spills. Always sweep or vacuum your Deco Ark vinyl before cleaning so that all loose dirt and particles are removed. For best results, do not use combination.
    • If your floor has been exposed to excessive amount of water due to flooding, do not panic. Deco Ark vinyl is waterproof! Simply remove water as quickly as possible.
    • To protect the floor surface from abrasive dirt and debris, we recommend install an effective Barrier system, such as a mat in the entrance to limit the amount of moisture, dirt, debris and grit that may enter the flooring area.
